Hey all. I need to purchase a bike! I just went to my local Libertyville bike shop (near work) and they'd have to special order a tri-bike, they don't have any in stock. Where are the good bike shops in/around Chicago where they actually stock these bikes and I can possibly try/sit/ride/whatever on these bikes and figure out what I might get? Do we get a discount at any places in Chicago for being a BT member?

I don't know about a discount, but when I lived in the city, I used Kozy's. It has a south loop location, one in lakeview, and one at clybourn and wells, I think. http://kozy.com/site/intro.cfm

There are so many different bike shops in the city and the surrounding suburbs. By the time I found one that had the bike that I really wanted, I realized it was so far away from home that it wasn't convienent for service. I had to go through 3 local shops at home before I found one that offered good service. My advice is to find a good shop that you can establish a relationship with. Some bike shop owners are absolute a-h*0es if you ask them to tune up a bike you bought somewhere else. It's as if they don't want your money if they can't have all of it.

There is Mission Bay Multisport (think that's the name) in Elgin.

I'll second Mission Bay in Elgin -- got my bike there, went in there having a vague notion of what I might want and they were extremely helpful and found the perfect bike for me. Patient and had what seemed like a lot in stock. I tried out several tri bikes before settling on the Cervelo Dual and absolutely LOVE it. Have been back once for them to refit it a little and they were great with that as well.I believe their website is http://www.missionbaymultisport.com

Mission Bay also have a store in Chicago on Randolph right off the expressway.  I just bought a new bike from them and had a great experience.
