10 mile bike ride to start the day. It’s a beautiful thing.

The bike is nice – cut about 15 mins off my mountain bike time and I’m still getting used to the new one!!

If I could only run I’d do a triathlon! :-)

Oh well - best focus on the run a bit more!

Need to do upper body strength workout and a bike workout. I'm trying to convince Hubby to ride with me. No luck so far.

Well I did a triathlon of sorts yesterday...30 minutes on the stationary bike. T-1 was only 15 seconds to get a drink of water. Then 20 minutes on the treadmill. I lost lots of time in T-2, cuz I had to take a shower, get in the car, drive to the pool. Swam for 30 minutes. Did quite a few laps with the local guys who are doing their training for the Massachusetts Special Olympics. There is some good talent there...we have a guy who is pretty fast, like under 40 seconds for 50 meters. I was impressed. Looks like he might have a good chance at a gold medal, woo hoo!

We plan on joining a bike club for Monday night rides. Hopefully this will help us with all the new stuff.

Couldn't help but notice your post. I have the same problem. He's always too busy watching CNN, FOX or whatever. Pretty soon I'm going to blow up the TV and couch!!!!!

We had thunderstorms in the night and lost power. So, the alarm clock didn't go off. Consequently, I am officially missing my 8:00 meeting. Woo Hoo!

Today's plan -although I'm not quite sure how all this is going to happen:
yoga
the upper body weight circuit that was supposed to happen yesterday. Whoops.
"extra" cardio, which means my step class

Or, I'll do what I sometimes do on Fridays and call it my "free choice" workout day. In other words, I do something, but it's whatever I want. Which always means bike or swim (biking these days, because of my shoulder) and NEVER means running.

I have a severe case of the blahhhs! Looked at my training log this week and I've been half doing stuff. Now of course for me that means I've only been doing one event a day, instead of all three at once like usual. But I guess I'm starting my tapering early since I have my first tri next Saturday.Whew, going to preview the course tomorrow! I'm so excited. My first tri is in seven days! Any ideas for what I should do next week? I think I'll run/bike everyday. Haven't done many bricks (just got my bike fixed up). But I don't want to overdo it. Boy am I nervous. Oh, today is a rest day. Sunday will be a long bike ride day, hoping to get in at least 20 miles. Later!Have a good training day all! O.

Ovetta- do you need a rest day to get over the blahs? Or "cross train" - go on a long hike with lots of elevation gain or something?

Today is yet another rest day for me. Have to work extra today, last day with in-laws, and hamstrings still kill me from planting bushes, hauling rocks (yes, big ones), and lots of bending over. This weekend, I'll be ready to go! :-)

Warmed up on the bike this morning... didn't really intend to but needed to measure out 2 miles for my run.

Yeah, I only did 2 miles this morning because my leg muscles were sore from riding and swimming yesterday and no doubt from the weights session the day before. I never realized how much swimming could work the legs; yesterday was the most I have ever swam in one day. Anyway, that's it for me today. Time to get some rest for long ride tomorrow; might even take part in a 28-mile road race tomorrow if the officials allow me to enter on my mountain bike.

"He's always too busy watching CNN, FOX or whatever. Pretty soon I'm going to blow up the TV and couch!!!!!"

The funny thing is that mine is a workaholic -- always working on something in the house or doing yard work, etc. He is the most workingest guy I've ever met. It's nice that he keeps the house up, but getting him away from the house to actually have fun is impossible. Also, he works so hard around the house, it's difficult to convince him to exercise further. I try to explain that he never really gets a cardio workout, but my protests fall on deaf ears. And for a man who endures the pain of manual labor cheerfully, he sure whines and drags his feet whenever I persuade him to go on a walk with me! You'd think he had lead strapped to his feet!

BTW, for your hubby, have you tried hiding the remote? ;-)

I did 16 miles on my mountain bike (second heaviest in the world ) in 1:30. I feel a bit more confident that I can handle the sprint tri in June knowing that I can bike that much and not fall over dead. Next week, I'll start the brick workouts. Schedule said swim, but I didn't get home from bike and then store until it was too late (darn pool is only open a couple of hours each day).

Tomorrow is a 10k race. Sunday is a rest day.

Have a great weekend all!!
