Hello all,

I posted in another forum on the site concerning injuries (out of order, sorry).

I'm new to the sport and idea of working towards becoming a triathlete. I am a soldier in the Army and am recovering from an ACL/MCL surgery. I had the ACL replaced and the MCL repaired and i'm doing very good towards my recovery.

I have a long way to go and understand that it's important to follow the guidelines set for me(GRRR). I always worked hard towards strength and mass training and have been quite successful. My Dr. doesn’t feel that I should continue that route. Since the Army will never give up the idea of running for physical fitness, it wouldn’t hurt to be even better at it than the next soldier. I love to swim and enjoy biking as well.

I have been given the go-ahead to start swimming next week, so that is my start. I have looked through the site and know that I will be able to use your experience as motivation on those hard days.

Again, hello to all and hope to share achievements.

Storm B.

Welcome and mea culpa!

Whereabouts are you in Florida? Do you have any Florida races on your calendar?

Happy training and tri'ing!

Hello to all that said hey and thanks for the greetings. Just an update, My doc said that I dont have to use crutches anylonger and I can start smimming (flutter-kicks), it's a start.

I'm up in NW Fl. and aren't to sure about any nearby races. I also was wondering if anyone has used the training fins in the pool and was there any good from it?

Nice talking to ya'll and will be back soon.

Howdy Neighbor,

Just down the road in Perdido Key. Local tri opportunities are the Mullet Man (Perdido Key) April 22, The Grand Man (Fairhope, AL) early June, and the Santa Rosa Island Tri (Pensacola Beach) September. Destin and Panama City have lots of races too, just not that familiar with them. Good luck and hope to run into you at one of the races.

Welcome to BeginnerTriathlete.com. Since you're in the Army I invite you to the Army Triathlon Club on Yahoo groups:

http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/Army_Triathlon/

You need an AKO address to join. It's a good networking tool as you move around.
