Subject: CycleOps Fluid2 trainer making noise
Greetings,
My cycleops fluid2 trainer has recently started making strange noises. I've searched the forums and it looks as though others have experienced this as well (sounds like the noise our bikes made when we clipped playing cards to the spokes as kids).

Has anyone found a solution to this? Is the unit faulty? Will I damage it if I keep riding it with this noise?

Thanks,
Eric

I'm interested in what people say because I just ordered one of these. Hopefully it can be easily fixed. I'm not sure where you have searched but try bikeforums.net. Tons of roadies over there and if you search the road bike forum I'm sure you will find something.

Cheers.

I have a fluid and haven't had problems. Sound like the flywheel mechanism is probably out of line. Probably need to send it to the manufacturer so they can open up the housing unit and investigate. Good luck.

i would call cycleops, chances are they will know right away what the problem is. you might have to send it back, but my understanding is that they have very good customer service.

I had that problem.  I emailed cycleops and they replied that it would take a little while to "break the unit in".

I thought they were full of it, but sure enough the problem went away after a total of six or seven sessions.  Haven't had a problem since.

I would email cycleops just so they have a record of this problem, in case you need to send the unit in.  In the meantime, ride lots and it may just go away.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I've been on my trainer about 12 times and the noise seemed to get progressively worse. I was hoping that it would "break in" and eventually stop but it doesn't look like that's happening.

I called Cycleops and told them of the problem. I must have got in touch with the right customer service rep because she immediately said she would mail out a new flywheel/housing unit with a postage-paid return label for my current one. I was impressed!

Hope this one works out.
