Total Time = 58m 34s
Overall Rank = 4/58
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Power Harvest Bar, first time had a weak cup of coffee before leaving the house. At site, got my bike pumped up and set at a good spot in transition, scoped out a place where I can take a hasty after the race so I can clean up and go to church (supposed to be there for band practice by 9:00!).
Event warmup:

Light jogging, stretching, more light jogging, a few sprint intervals, multiple potty stops, etc.
Run
  • 13m 15s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

WOW! 6:23 for my first mile and 6:52 for my second! I think I might've taken it out a little too fast, but it's too late now.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure if I should've gone out slower or not. It all may have evened out in the wash anyway.
Transition 1
  • 00m 21s
Comments:

The velcro strap came out of the loop on my left shoe so I couldn't get it tightened. I tried several times but gave up.
What would you do differently?:

Not bother continuing to try and buckle it.
Bike
  • 30m 31s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Windy today. Most of race was north/south and wind was from the east. As luck would have it, there is a landfill just east of the park so we enjoyed that aroma on top of everything else!
What would you do differently?:

Train harder (always need to do that!)
Transition 2
  • 00m 27s
Comments:

Just kept concentrating on what to do for transition in the last mile of the bike so I wouldn't have to think too much while doing it.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 14m
  • 2 miles
  • 07m  min/mile
Comments:

Just hung on for dear life!
What would you do differently?:

Might've been able to squeeze a little more speed out of the last mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking. Quick sponge-soap-rinse-off at the sink in the bathroom and got changed for church.

Event comments:

Awards at 9:00. Got 4th overall and looked like the classy in my church skirt, blouse and sandals while everyone else still wearing racing clothes for the picture!

I think you should post the photo in the church clothes!

Jen

If I had any idea how to do that, I would!  There is already a picture on the race site's results page.

Thanks for the great comments everyone.  Kevin, you're funny to post the picture!  I had to have my hands behind my back for the pic because I had a cup of water and peanut butter bagel I didn't want to let go of!

Sharon

P.S.  Everyone will be thrilled to note that I got to church early enough to practice all but one of the songs that we did in the service.  YAY!!!
