Hey there St. Patrick's Day runners - what "distinguishing" apparel will you wear for this race? I plan to wear a funky Erin Go Bragh knit cap.

Hmmm, hadn't even occured to me - I've been more absorbed with figuring out the logistics of getting there.

Though they say parking is "Available on surrounding streets", this is DC we're talking about, so I am thinking metro is the way to go - but then as far as bag check goes, they say " with the number of runners expected, a bag check operation will quickly become overwhelmed if everyone tries to take advantage of this service."

I may have to just drag my brother out with us to be the packhorse.

I have to admit I hadn't even considered the logistics yet. But now that you mention it, I'm definitely taking metro - I'll take my chances with the bag check situation.

This'll be my first race of the season, so I'm really looking forward to it. Should be lotsa fun!

Tommy where do you live in Alexandria? I could pick you up, I'll drive as I can park tha car at the hotel (work) which is right at the start line. I can either come down Route 1 or GW parkway. I live about 10 mins south of Alexandria. Let me know.

Cheers,
Arpad

On Heatherwood Drive just off Van Dorn Street (between 495 and Franconia). Thanks for the offer! I could probably meet up with you at your house.

Tommy

I just moved back to Vienna and registered today. I live directly across from the Vienna metro and am happy to offer my driveway to those wanting to metro in.

Yeah, tnt2tri pointed that out to me - should still be a good time, but it means only 1 water station vs 2... I want my water every 2 miles darnit!!!

Ok everyone I know this is bad but I may bail on this now, not because the 2K's less but because I did not realize that France was playing England in the 6 Nations Rugby tournament. it starts at 9 AM and I would love to watch it. Seeing they have changed the race distance they are also allowing people to opt out and are giving refunds.

I know this is bad but I really want to watch the game.

I assume TiVo or recording is not an option?

Nah, it's not bad, it's not like they're gonna play every weekend. Enjoy the game and then go to 8K later in the day and report back.

Wish Tivo was an option but they only show this in pubs and at $20. Still working it out.

Is anyone else starting to wonder if the race is going to happen? We're a week away and they're still negotiating a start time for it.

In case you didn't get an email on it (I didn't get anything when it went from a 10 to 8K), they've finally settled on a starting time, it's now 9 AM.

Thanks Cindy - didn't get an e-mail, but glad to hear the race is still on.  The weather looks like it'll be incredible this weekend.  Cannot wait.

Yes I missed the race, very rare for me but hey the Rugby was worth it. France creamed England 31-6 (this is huge) they scored a try in the first 43 seconds and the English just got punished after that. Well anyway while everyone was out being healthy I was hydrating....

Great weather, glad to hear that you all had a great run.

Had a great ride yesterday.

Anyone doing the Nations 1/2M?

Cheers,
A
