Sunny
Total Time = 1h 40m 13s
Overall Rank = 46/316
Age Group = 50 -54
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Up early, one cup coffee, usual oat cereal with yogurt and honey, banana, all about 2 hours before race.
Event warmup:

Jogging, stretching. One gel pack 15 mins before start
Run
  • 1h 40m 13s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I did exactly what I wanted to do: was shooting for about a 7:40 pace and I hit that.
What would you do differently?:

Probably look to cut my pace in the latter half of the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk, sit, eat oranges, bananas and bagles

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My own caution with regard to pacing. Have never competed in a 1/2 before, so I had no idea what pace I would truly be capable of. Picked a pace I thought I could keep and I kept it, but probably could have won or at least placed in age group (took 5th) had I been slightly more aggressive.

Event comments:

I'll be back!

Good race! I guess sometimes you have reasonable hills and sometimes you don't.
