Derek and I are watching the opening ceremonies.  Did anybody else see the thing with all the people making a ski jumper?  There were bunches of people, dressed in different colors, but when they all stood together, it made one giant ski jumper, kind of a' la marching band style.   Okay, that didn't make any sense, but IT WAS SO COOL!

That was the best part of the opening ceremonies I thought. Definately got all my attention. I just couldn't fathom that it was people. Very cool.

Did anyone see one of the snowboarding chicks from the US on her cell phone during the introductions? You have got to be kidding me! I feel that is so rude.

I liked the ad where the kids were mimicing movements and then they'd cut away to the athletes doing the same thing in their getup. sweet.

the parade is boring, though, I'm glancing back and forth between screens.  Must go to bed.... work tomorrow. ugh.

I always like the parade of nations. I enjoy seeing the countries with one athlete, or just a small contigent. I also make a big deal out of scoring the flag bearers: extra points for a nice flourishy wave, deductions for an uncomfortable grip or cold facial expression. I'm a big Olympics dork.

Yeah, that snowboard chick on cellphone. She got a massive cellphone! Probably a Blackberry. The problem I have with NBC's prime time coverage is that they like to show you 3 minutes of this, 3 minutes of that, and interject with sappy bio inbetween, plus more BOB COSTA! I plan to TiVO most of the live stuff and watch it at night.

I enjoy watching both. I am amazed at all these athletes and the sports they do, especially the sports I would never think of doing.

I love the Olympics. Winter, Summer, I don't care. What I like is the bizarre sports I only see once every four years. Curling. Summer rowing events. Men's field hockey. Olympic team handball.

I'm watching women's hockey right now. Women's hockey! The USA is killing 'em. Go Title IX!

Summer rowing events.

Right on DUDE. I rowed 4 years in college, so it's great to see it on tv. The last summer olympics, rowing was on at like 3 in the morning, so that was a bummer, just had to stay up until it came on.

I like the parade of nations too!  At the bottom of the screen they had a list of the countries that were coming up next and my husband and I would try and guess how big or small each contingent would be.  And the kids would try to find each country on our big map.  Fun for all!

I too really enjoy Bob Costas... I don't think the Olympics would be the same without him.  As for which I like best (I'm a total Olympic whore), I enjoy watching the Winter Games on TV more, but I think there are more events in the Summer Games I would love to see live (Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, Triathlon, Swimming...).

I lost all respect for Bob Costas in '99 when he called the Braves v Yankee's World Series. Everyone knows he carries a Mickey Mantle card in his wallet and don't think for a minute that he wasn't a big ole HOMER for the Yankees the entire series. I would expect it if I was watching on a NY channel but IMO as a network commentator you should at least pretend to be impartial.
