Subject: New and It's AWESOME HeyHey-
I'm 18 and training for my first sprint triathlon. For now, it's just a hobby. I row for UC, Irvine and since season is over, I thought I'd try something new. My first tri race is next weekend, and I'm super excited. I'm stroke seat for crew and I got my 7 seat to enter with me. We have been so motivated and energized that we got 3 guys from the novice team to enter the same tri as well! I'm not bad at any of the 3 disciplines...although my training partner is a cross country runner...she keeps me going! Any suggestions on how to get faster at the run. I've already improved a great deal at the swim! YAY! And I've been doing spinning classes and bike rides for the bike; however, all I have at the moment is a mountain bike. A friend is going to let me use her triathlon bike! So excited because I think it will make me faster. That dang mountain bike is so heavy that I have to work twice as hard to keep up with my training parter, who's bike is more suitable for the race. Encouragement and sugggestions are much appreciated! After this first race, I'm going to be running the Camp Pendleton Mud Run and hopefully a half marathon this summer. Who knows, this sport might take me away from Crew...heehee don't tell the coach. |
