CHRISTINE!  I thought it was you who said it was a dolphin!  I figured being a local, you would know, so when you said dolphin (I thought) I said fine and went right in the water.  Doh!

Uh Oh. Definitely a shark.

But it was swimming away from the BT crew! Not tasy enough I guess.

Yeah, I mean how nutritious is a triathlete?  Not as tasty I bet as a golfer or a Nascar driver.

See - Tampa is even worse for sharks than Boca! My father-in-law sees them all the time in Delray (sorry Janice!) - right by the shore line too. I have to get over my fear though - I need to be able to do an ocean-swim tri!

Can you imagine what that poor shark would have gone through if you guys dragged it onto the beach. Pictures of you mooning it, the girls would do a "shark sandwich" picture, you'd prop it up to go tanning with Comet...

Janice said it was a dolphin.  I tentatively agreed with her.  I knew it was far away from the crew, so......

OOOKAY!!  This is a ST Pete Times newspaper article about my husband from 2004.  He's still doing that work.   It's abstract text only.  They took some neat pictures, we have the article framed and hung in the bedroom (there's no room elsewhere).

yikes, that's a huge link.  what happened to the insert link button?  IT's off.

dang, sorry, didn't mean to hijack.... but since we're talking about sealife in Tampa Bay.....

"You know where the 22nd Street Bridge is? Down by Berth 200 in the Port of Tampa? One time I was working under a barge when I felt one of those pressure waves. I mean, a really big one. I knew something big was getting close. I looked up toward the surface. The water was murky, but, you know, you could still see the sunlight. Well, something swam above me. Whatever it was blotted out the sun for a long time. I called up on my radio: 'Anybody see what that was?' Nobody had. Whatever it was, it was huge.

See - at least I have a good reason to be afraid!
