Subject: running shoe inserts??

I have noticed that my running shoes feel alittle 'flat'. they don't have nearly enough miles to justify getting a new pair. they are mizunis and i love them. is it an option to put in over the counter inserts? if so, does anyone have recommendations?

The brand "super feet" makes a great insert for your shoe. If your not looking for a drastic change go with the light blue ones. They are a little more expensive, but they are much much better than the crap you'll buy at Wal-Mart
Good luck

if you are looking for motion control-y inserts, i.e. high arches that don't let your arches collapse when you step, PowerStep makes great inserts which i use.  recommended by podiatrist and the running store.  when i got them the running store said to break them in easy though.  if you get the full length one you should take the insert that came with your shoe out.

thanks for all the info, guys. I have used SuperFeet in my hiking boots and loved them. I've never heard of PowerStep, will check those out too. I am going to head for the tri/running store on my lunch tomorrow

I have motion control running shoes and bought some Superfeet to put in them. While I liked the Superfeet product by itself (and probably adding them into a normal shoe), I felt like adding the arch support from the inserts into a shoe that already had good arch support became somewhat overkill and a bit uncomfortable. If I were to do it again, I think I would just buy a more neutral insert and rely on the shoes for the arch support. 'm not sure if I was just being too picky about it, but I would encourage you to at least think about that as you're making the decision.

Ditto...Ditto...Ditto on the SUPERFEET. A friend of mine and her husband are both pediatrists and SuperFeet are the only inserts they recommend to their clients. Everyone I know who uses these inserts swears by them - they just love them!

yeah, i definitely have thought about new shoes. I bought a pair of nikes last year which i hate, i can't recall the model, but they were under $100, so not great. i keep going back to my mizuni's. i'll try the inserts before dropping more cash for shoes
