Ok, since we've been talking about lactic acid recently, figured I'd go further.  How do you find your lactate threshold?  (other than getting tested).  I'm sure I can find it in the Triathlete Training Bible somewhere,  but I wanted to ask everyone to see if there is more than one way to do it.  And I assume the LT is different for each of the 3 disciplines?

Good question - I've read 'The Bible' several times and have never really understood a way to do it 'at home'. If anyone can suggest a method I'd also be very grateful, otherwise its simply HR zones for me for the moment.

I think this is probably one of the best methods you are going to get short of doing it in a lab.

here's how i did it. Go to the track and run 30 mins all out (want ever you can maintain for 30 mins) 10 mins into the run hit your lap button on your HR monitior. your ave heart rate for the last 20 mins will be your LT. p.s. you wil need a HR monitior that shows ave heart rate. I belong to training bible.com and this is how they say to do it. I found this to be 96% of my max heart rate.
