That's the rebranding of the Half Ironman.

1.2 mile swim + 56 mile bike + 13.1 mile run = 70.3!

Its Ironman North America's way of distinquishing themselves from the other Half iron distance races. You know when you are doing an Ironman 70.3 that it is actually part of their race series.

All it means to me is that I have to cough up another $10 for insurance since USAT and IWC aren't on speaking terms anymore.
