I ran my first 5k race ever yesterday morning---I started out running quite a bit faster than I usually do--race excitement I suppose. I ran my first mile in 8:33, but then I slowed down to my normal pace I think. In any case, I finished in 28:07, which is about 2 minutes faster than I train. I came in 47th, out of however many people---mostly serious runners, that I could tell. The leaders took off at a sprint!! Or at least that's what it looked like. In any case, I was pleased with my own performance. My personal best is the only thing I can hope for!
The weather is really awful at the moment, so my training has been sort of pu on halt--I'm finished with school, so there is no where for me to train but outside. Hopefully I'll be getting a membership at a nearby pool this week, and maybe hang out at the rock climbing gym....Ahhh I've got cabin fever. I'm just glad my race didn't get rained out yesterday!!!
I hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats Dorian, sounds like you had a great race. As long as you had fun, that's what counts the most. Now you have a time to aim for in your next event!

Great job and great time! I ran a 5K yesterday and my first mile was slow, slow, slow. My treadmill running has really thrown off my outdoor running. Still, way to go out fast and then settle into your run. A two minute improvement seems pretty impressive. Congrats.

Congrats on your first race!!

It is really easy to get caught up at the beginning an run yourself into a little bit of a hole - way to recover and finish strong!
Don't wait too long to sign up for your next race - keep that momentum going.
