stuck in traffic...

ya know, I'm seriously thinking about becoming a bike commuter also. this morning i scoped out the possible route (3.5 miles) and would like to start bike commuting as well.

how far would you need to ride to work?

Just remember, I was riding my bike this afternoon and almost got clipped by a car.  Not totally the cars fault, i was in her blind spot, but still the more you ride the more chances you have of being hit.  Not trying to turn you away from bike commuting, just had a scare for me today.

I have been riding to work 1 to 2 times a week since getting my bike in late January. I am actually riding tomorrow.

My ride is 17.1 miles each way, with variation on different routes.

Phoenix has some decent bike lanes and I ride through Scottsdale and Tempe also which are bike friendly communities.

I actually ride a motorcycle to work (so I can use the car pool lane). Due to traffic congestion here in Phoenix, if I was to drive my car it would take longer to get to and from work than I can do it on the bike. (my car isn't running anyway... something with the ignition system)
