Bonking is what happens when one fails to ensure his or her muscle gyclogen stores and blood glucose levels are maintained at levels that will support a given activity. Basically, you don't eat enough and your body tells you "you're done".

Simple enough Thanks. Hopefully I will never experience this....

Right now I don't think my muscles nor my lungs are in good enough shape to experience this, they give out before my nutritional stuff gives out!

you'd be surprised...

You'd also be surprised how often you actually do it when you first start out before figuring out that you are doing it.

Similar, but when I think of "hitting the wall" (this is me now, I'm not saying it doesn't mean different things to different people) I think it's mental obstacles and you can push through those. Bonking is bonking, and there's no pushing through. Prevention is the only fix. You bonk, you're done.

On the rare odd times that I "hit the wall" I am tired, dilussional, and therefore walk into a wall or something of the like.

and real men don't do both at the same time

Yeah they go hand in hand a lot.... at least when I'm bonking I have an excuse.

A real bonk is not subtle. If you really bonk, you'll know it without having to ask. It just sucks and all you want to do is lay down and give up. Like other people said, it technically means that you have completely depleted your glycogen stores and you have a hard time even contracting muscle.

Stay fueled and stay within your limits when building.

BONKing SUCKS! And yes, you know it when you do it. It's not really something that sneaks up on you and you can get around (read: the Wall). When you bonk as someone previous said, you are done! One of my two major bonks included my wife picking me up 20 miles from my house when I decided I was "good" enough to do an 80 miler on 2 bottles of water and a powerbar. Did I mention that my previous long ride was 40 miles??

BONK = DONE

Whoever invented, Gu, HammerGel, Carb Boom, etc...I LOVE YOU!!!
