Hey, what's up? I had my first sprint triahtalon today, and it was great! The swimming sucked, but other than that I'm pleased with my time: 1.27.02. Any suggestions on kicking-ass in the swim next time? I'm up again in December for another sprint!

go to http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/swimming.htm - new articles by our new writers.  both have some swim workouts at the end.  although they may be long, cut them down to a manageable size and work on those drills.

For my first race, my swim routine consited of building up an endurance. Now I'm looking for drills to make my time faster.

Swimming is by far the hardest, at least for me.  never was good swimmer.  but with time, effort, and proper coaching, i think you should be able to improve substantially.

Congratulations on your first tri. I agree with the previous posts. Take a look through some of the articles and forums that focus on the swim. You will make great progress by doing more targeted and focused swim workouts. Good luck!

Congrats and welcome, I could not even finish a 50 yard swim 2 years ago and then looked into Total Immersion DVD and it drastically improved what I thought was swimming (LOL it probably looked more like a dog but not as elegant) now I'm training for 1st HIM and doing endless laps in the pool.  I want to echo what everyone else has said, technique and drills are very important, speed will come.

Good luck
