I am thinking about purchasing the Fit Day program from fitday.com.

Does anyone else use this program and if so, do you like it? It seems like a very nice program but I have never used it before.

I am interested in any feedback from those who have used it.

Is there a place in the program to make a meal list?

Any way, any info would be great.

Scott

I use the purchased version. I like it pretty well. Yes, you can create custom dishes as well as folders with all the parts on the meal list.

Main issue is that it tends to over estimate your calorie burn. Set the base metabolic rate quite low and it'll do fine.

The folders and saved meals options seem nice, but I stick with the free on-line version and have just entered most of my custom foods on there.  I think it works just fine!

I think the free version works just fine. Never saw any reason to upgrade to the purchased program.

Can I ask a question... I use the free fitday program and since I have a desk job I have entered my Lifestyle level as seated work - which when I go to my activities I have a
Basal of 1426, Lifestyle of 622 and activities (37 run at 5.2 and 8 walk at 3.0) of 313 giving me a total of 2360...

I am 5'7 and 136.4 lbs this morning - I have been eating between 1600-1700 calories and have lost like .6 lbs and that is it recently.

My question is should I change my activity level to sedentary - if I do that it drops me to 276 lifestyle with the same exercise bringing me to a total of 2015 so if I want the 500 deficit each day that is 1500 calories or less.

My question is --- and I know no one is a doctor here (ok might be) but in your opinion could I be eating too much?

Thanks for any and all suggestions,
Stacie

I, like you, work a desk job. I switched to sedentary and find it gets me a more accurate total day burn.

Thanks for the input nuke_angel. Not sure I like the 1300-1400 calorie range but might give it a try for a week or two and see how it works out. Going to have to get creative..

Thanks again,

I ended up changing mine to sedentary as well and have seen a huge improvment already. Basically I have been calorie counting (actually enjoying it) and have been doing tri training and have lost 5 lbs in 5 days. I know it sounds like a lot but I usually end up losing a lot of water weight fast and then I will taper off.

I do though need to lose 45 lbs, so the initial 15 lbs I believe will come off pretty quick.

The first day of eating was the worst for me, I was really hungery at around 8pm but what I did was went to bed early so I didn't have to think about eating (it worked actually). After that first day, I have been satisfied since.

After wondering for so long why this was the case, I found out that it's because if you put in your actual activity level you have to account for all 24hours of the day. So once you enter sleeping, reading, watching tv etc it brings your calories down. Putting your level at sedentary, or even bedbound (which I think is where I have mine) gives a much more accurate picture. According to another calculator my "true" number is right in between sedentary and bedbound.

I guess that is what has me confused as to how much I should be eating. I am 5'7" and currently at 137.

If I am bed bound that gives me 1430 calories a day.

If I am sedentary as I have right now trying it out, without any exercise that is 1716 calories - which to lose my 500 a day - then that puts me at 1216.

So for instance if I put in 45 min on the stationary bike that boasts me up to 1975 calories - 500 calories to lose a lb a week that puts me down at 1475 calories - I guess that is waht I have been trying to stay at with exercise but that doesn't give me very many calories to eat like on my rest day at 1216.

I though the calories for 5'7" would be more than 1216 on a rest day but who knows. I have been at sedentary for 2 weeks almost now and have actually seen no results either.

I used to use Fitday for a while, but just a couple months ago I started using Sparkpeople ( www.sparkpeople.com). It has everything Fitday has, a nicer set-up (in my opinion), and more. I think the site is designed primarily for people who want to lose weight (like myself), but I'm sure you could use it to keep track of your nutrition. It's FREE too!
