OK, Who's still in with the race moved to 4/2? I'm local so it didn't matter much to me.

Time to start thinking about a BT gathering?

I'm local too so I have to go!!!
It really didn't make that much difference to me to have it moved to Sunday, it does stink that they had to cancel the cruise though.

I will still be there. I would have rather had a Saturday race but no big deal. I have to get some revenge from the monsoon we had down there last year!!!

Have you looked at the long term weather forecast? RAIN!!! I kid you not... I was looking forward to better weather from last year as well.

Looks like scattered showers. The weather accuracy here means that we could either have full sun, or pouring rain. At least no T-storms like last year (at least so far...)

With the type of start this race has (pool race - one person every 10 sec. or so), meeting before hand isn't so practical. Unless we meet the night before at the pre-race meeting or at the local carb loading. I'm thinking that since the awards are NOT on the cruise, but probably after the race, we can meet at the tents afterward.

Any other thoughts?

I'm game either way. I'm coming down Saturday and staying the night in Wilmington.

Kinda off-topic aside here...are we still able to get into the locker rooms when the race is over? Just wondering, because I'd like to have the opportunity to shower before driving back to Raleigh.

I don't know, you might want to send the race director a note and ask.

However, if you are a fast swimmer and in the first half for start, the locker room will still be open, because we slow swimmers will still be in the start... Last year the first swimmers started at 8:00 am, the last at 10:30ish.

They were still open when I finished last year, so I took another shower.....one during the race and then one afterwards!!! Bring some old shoes.

Oh, where to begin...

Last year there was an official carb load dinner at Wilson's. I don't see them advertising this time, so don't know. Frankly, I was unimpressed.

Italian - Carraba's is near the hotels recommended on the site. There's a Macaroni Grill in town. If you don't want Italian - there's an IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday, O'Charleys, Outback's. There's also a couple of good Mexican places - On The Border, La Costa. Several great seafood places with pasta dishes - Bluewater Grill, Bonefish Grill...

The list goes on and on...

If you have more detailed preferences, I can give better recommendations...

Thanks! Those are great suggestions!

Do we have a BT plan? At least we'll all have our race numbers by Thursday night, which might make it easier to find one another.

Let's compare start times once we get the numbers tonight.

We could meet at the pre-race meeting just to figure out who's who. Then we could either go out to carb load together or decide on a meeting point for Sunday.

Good luck guys...I wish I could be there...gotta work this weekend. If you want burritoes for carb loading...check out Flaming Amy's, it's my favorite place to eat in Wilmiongton.

I tried Flaming Amy's before I left Wilmington on Sunday and it was fabulous! Great burritos and more food than any three humans could eat!
