Subject: Sports Bras for women
Hello

I am getting ready for my first Tri in May. Needless to say I am not sure what to wear as far as a sprts bra goes. I've seen the tri bras with the shelf bras built in, but what if you require a little more support than that? Any suggestions?

Depends on your build, but for me built ins don't work. I have a couple different type but I love my Moving Comfort Fiona sports bra as it is made of wicking material. I always wear a sports bra under all my racewear. I have other sports bras that are still wet 4.5 hours after swimming...not great.

Congrats on taking the plunge for your first tri!

I bought a bra from teamestrogen.com. I just bought one that isn't cotton, and it is fine for racing. I wear it under a tri suit. I've only done sprints so far, and the bra stays wet. But it's not so wet that it is distracting or chafing, so I'll keep wearing it and try it in my oly this Sept.

I love this top from Patagonia...I wear it on most workouts, but am not sure about during a race. I don't need extra support

I've been a fan of the Champion Seamless Bra for years, but recently bought my first Moving Comfort Fiona bra. I recommend it to anyone looking for a serious support.

Good luck with your first tri!

Trust a guy to get in a comment like that on this thread!!!

BTW, it's probably a good job I'm single - I have shocking chafing issues!!! My next move is to try BodyGlide and see if that helps... Unfortunately, tri clothing and sports bra manufacturers really don't seem to have considered the DD problem! Yeah right, "built-in bra"!! Still searching for the solution but I'll check out the Moving Comfort suggestion...

As a dealer of sports bras, I would need to see what is being supported to recommend the proper attire...

Zilla - 2006-04-04 7:03 PM Question on the Moving Comfort Fiona bra.... I like the look and the adjustablility factor AND the fact it has "molded cups".  Do they truly give each of the girls their own comfortable, compressed containment or do you still get the smooshed, uniboobalicious, swingin' and swayin' thing going on when you run?  I just hate that.

After wearing an Enell smooshed bras for a year, I love the Fiona as it feels like a bra not as big and I look better or almost normal each has it's old molded cup that does its job...no unibob look.  I'm DD too so it is very important. I have 5-6 now as I workout twice a day most days so I go through 2 a day. Plus they wick great so I'm not all hot and damp in my workout.

Here in NE I get them at Bob's when they have a 25 or 30% coupon ...they are normally $40 and I get them for $30 or less.

Dream on for me about finding a built in bra that works...I'm always going to wear a sports bra under what ever I wear.

I love Bodyglide!  Great in all those nasty chaffing areas.  Also try "Chamois Butt'r' Cream by Paceline.  Works niiiiice....

Zilla - 2006-04-05 12:10 AM Thanks Kathy.  I tried the Enell bra too.  It doesn't dry fast enough and it's just a big, damn, hard to get into and out of, piece of armour.  You understand I'm sure. It definitely kept the girls in place and gave me fantastic posture but during the summer months I just felt confined and sooo hot in the thing.  I welcome a change.  I am a 36DD, is the Fiona pretty true to your bra size or does it run big/small?

Same size as my regular bra. Really when I did my 1/4 IM my Enell was still wet when I finished over 4 hours later and that sucker is big and bulky...yuck! Try a Moving Comfort Fiona...and see what you think...my one has grown to 6 in 6 months.

Boy I am glad to see this thread.  This will be my first Tri season and I am 40DD almost E and those 'built in' bras are a joke.  they must think that if we tri we lose our (.)(.)!  I have a couple of Champion bras that are polyester and lycra.  I was hoping they stay dry enough,  I also have an Enell but didn't want to try it because it comes undone on the top.  I designed a house for the women that owns and developed Enell and thought I would give it a chance... But I either bought a too big of one or too small of one.  I don't know.
