Subject: New bike...forearms sore...
Log followers will note I had my first "real" ride 2 days ago on my new Trek Pilot, which was fitted for me. I notice the next day signficant forearm sorness in my extensor muscles. (Pull your wrist back, and feel the forearm muscles that are tight...those muscles).

I'm sure this is from a different riding posture compared to my mountain bike(s) where the brake levers are tilted downward so there is no significant flexion or extension of the wrist while biking.

Being my first ride on a road bike (aside from the trainer) since I was about 12, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is something my body will just get used to? Like I said, it was fitted for me, and is very comfortable, I had no discomfort while riding, just noticed it the next day. , and today they feel fine.

I think it is safe to assume that this is due to new bike, new position, new muscles.  You may be on your way to having cool Popeye forearms.

I would give it a couple weeks.  I got a new bike a few weeks ago and my body is still adjusting.

Did we get to see pictures of your new bike?

It may be that you are riding with your wrists flexed a lot of the time. I do this on some bike more than othere, particularly when I spend a lot of time in the drops.

I bet you get conditioned to it. Just make sure you aren't gripping the bars too tightly.

It has been 7 hours since the initial post and still no bike pics.  Isn't there some rule that says that if you discuss your ride(especially if new or new to you) you must post pics within a mandatory time frame?  Also how can it be verified that it is red if we don't see it?

My shoulders were sore for two days after my first real ride on my new bike.  I assume it is because my areobars are a lot narrower than my previous ones.  I have been fine ever since, you  probably just need to get used to it.

Ha, ha...it's a SEXY PEARL CARBON (also known as "nude") bike that's faster than the red ones!

Here is a link in case the pic doesn't post. Note that despite my own 5'3" height, the bike has 700c wheels.

Please note that neither my apartment, nor my wooden floors are as clean as they appear in this picture!
