The May 6 bash leaves from San Antonio, Austin, and Houston and converges at Shiner, Texas for the concert/festival.

Sounds fun! Anyone in?

One teeny little problem for me would be... I'm not at all sure I can ride 90 miles!

Gosh I've wanted to do the Shiner ride since before I started biking, it always sneaks up on me and usually I don't have enough cycling training to even consider it.  I'll have to see if I'm in town that weekend.

I've heard the hotter than hell is a hard ride.  Courtney is that the tri that is in the Woodlands?  I was going to sign up for it but it was alread full, it would cost $1 to get on the wait list.  Maybe I'll check to see how many are on the wait list.

Hey Court - how about just going to the festival part in Shiner? We could drive home together then. Not actually a beer drinker, so I don't *need* to be on that chartered bus. Well okay my legs may not be moving. That could be a problem.

Sheri - let me know if you DO decide to do it! I'd love to meet you... at the start. Based on your logs, doesn't seem to be much chance of me catching you after that!

Shiner Ride may be too much of a challenge for me frankly. i don't want to sign up for a ride unless there's a reasonable hope i can finish; don't want to PLAN on relying on the SAG van, you know? This would be double my longest ride to date. So, um, lemme look into the wind direction... no, really, I'm determined to get as much Time In The Saddle as possible between now and then, so I'll see where it stands by the early reg cut-off April 21 and evaluate then.

ANYONE ELSE??? I know we have some beer drinkers in the Texas contingent of BT. Of course, the standard bearer is busy supporting her new Iron Man today so I'm not sure when we'll hear from her.

I'm in. I did it last year and wasn't sure if I could make the 90 miles (longest ride before that was 50). There are rest stops every 10 miles and the pace is casual towards the middle and back of the pack. It's still a challenge if you haven't been putting in some long rides yet.

If anyone is interested, I am trying to find a way to drop-off my truck in Shiner on Friday so that I can do the ride and then drive back without having to wait on the bus. I did this last year with a buddy and it worked out great!

I'll post more info as I get it.

Of course, that offer really only goes to people who live in the Round Rock/Austin area

Sorry all you guys that live in Houston, I can't take you home after the ride!

I did the Bash last year, and I will echo what has been said before you DO NOT have to be able to do 90 miles in one sitting. The rest stops are only 10 to 15 miles apart, so you can actually do the ride in short stages and then rest up.

I have not committed to doing the ride yet, but am thinking of going over to Austin, riding to Shiner and then catching a ride back to Houston.

Hey! I just realized -- I can't do the Shiner ride for the same reason I can't do CB&I -- -- I have a relative coming into town that day who I'll need to spend the day with.

I'm out. This ride doesn't fit with my training cycle for Buffalo Springs. Had fun on the Fiesta Wildflower Century this past weekend and would do that again next year.

No ride? Surely, there is someone out there who could offer you a ride.

Hey Guys - I'd love to do this ride one year (Especially after MS-150.... I'm sure I can do 90 miles!) - just bad timing with CB&I this year. WISH US LUCK OUT THERE & HAVE A GOOD TIME IN SHINER!
