Hey Bob,

I really like First endurance's other products but the Ultragen tatstes like chalk. Maybe you can suggest to the company that they work on adding/changing the flavoring.

After a long SWIM, BIKE or RUN I just want something a little tasty to drink.

You know, kind of like chocolate milk!

I wonder why the comparison chart does not include recoverite or infinit which are very popular and great products.

The owners are First Endurance are very open to suggestions and feedback.

I would just shoot them an email at [email protected] and let them know what you think.

Regarding the comparison beverage, and probably best answered by the owners, but I am guessing that they did not include some products in the chart because they may have not been on the market yet. I could be wrong though! I know GPush G4 is on there and they are no longer in business.

It may be worth asking them to update the chart also...

First Endurance has research packets for each of their products with specific studies referenced. Visit their site (www.firstendurance.com) and then click on the "Research" tab and you can choose the product you want to know about.

Regarding that chalky taste...it recommends to use 2 scoops of Ultragen per 12 ounces. I use 2 scoops per bottle (about 20 ounces) and it helps with the taste.

I just started using Ultragen- Orange Creamsicle and I love how this stuff tastes. I have always used chocolate milk in the past.

marmadaddy - 2006-04-09 11:03 PM Never tried Ultragen, but stay away from the LemonLime Endurox. Most people do well with the tangy orange.

I happen to be to exact opposite.  I couldn't really stand the orange Endurox, but really love the Lemon-Lime.  To each his own.  But another +1 for endurox.

What about real food?? Is there any scientific evidence that any commerical recovery drink works better then just eating a balance meal after a workout?

I have tried Endurox R4 (Choc my favorite) for a while, but it is expensive and I wasn't convinced it was helping that much. I just made sure to eat a regular meal within a half hour after a hard workout. After a morning workout, it is typically a bowl of bran flakes in 1% milk with some blueberries. After an evening workout it is typically grilled fish or chicken with brown rice and brocilli or grean beans. If it is going to be much longer then a half hour before I can fix a meal, I just have a glass of choc milk and a banana. I really could not deal the difference in how I felt, but that is just me.

+ cereal = best recovery combo ever!

Add a scoop of whey protein to the chocolate milk, eat the cereal (bran flakes) while soaking in the ice bath. Describes yesterday morning after my eighteen-mile run, really any morning after LSD of 16+.

^^^ this ..along with the Choc milk and protrien powder, I also add powdered L-Glutamine (which helps with the immune system and muscle repair after long workouts) some frozen raspberries ( instead of ice bath) and blend....never a soar muscle or wallet the next day...

I have used UltraGen the last year and a half and I really like it and it works for me. I like to add UltraGen to a post workout fruit smoothie, that is my favorite recovery drink.

I think real whole foods would be commonly accepted as the best source of recovery nutrition; as to which whole foods are best, well thats a whole nother thread.  At least for me, the Endurox (or other recovery drink), is all about convenience.  I end my bike rides at my car.  Its easy to freeze a nalgene bottle of water and pour some powder in it after its been melting in my car for three hours.  I try to eat a good meal within a few hours, but the Endurox is nice to have at hand at the end of the workout to get me back on my feet.

I'm a HUGE ultragen fan.

The cappuccino flavor is delicious. Good enough make me work extra hard and justify sucking some down right after I finish a session.

Oh, and it works too.
