Pre-race routine:

My normal triathlon breakfast, plus a 10 minute run to get going. A little stretching and trash talk.

Comments:

My first half.... I ran super slow the first 7 miles, and I figure now that I can run a bit faster for teh first portiona nd still run my race in the second half. I think there is at least 5 minutes to pull off my time.
What would you do differently?:

I would go about 5 BPM faster in teh first half.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

It is hard to run 7 minute miles after running 11 miles!

Event comments:

I used my fuel belt to drink when I wanted. I had a gel to start, and two during the race. 1 at 40 minutes and the other at 1:10.

I am doing my first Half Ironman May 6th in White Lake, NC. I figured that one month out is a good test for the race, plus it was my birthday yesterday, so I got to go out and race on my birthday. Best present !
