Subject: RE: Music while Biking?

You can be as careful as you want and still cyclists are in a position with greater chances to lose. We have drivers talking on their cell phone or text messaging more than paying attention to the road, we have drivers speeding, we have those who ignore traffic laws/signs, those who feel the road belongs to them and we are invading it, we have to deal with wind which sometimes makes hearing difficult and we have to deal with the new vehicles which some engines barely make any noise. On top of that, add the terrible handling skills that many Triathletes and newbies in general have, well you do the math (don’t get upset about the handling skills comment, it is just a fact and I include myself in that group)

Anytime we ride a bike we are engaging in a risky activity. Of course you can ride your bike while listening to music. You can also take as many precautions as you want. Still by doing so you are probably increasing your chances for an accident.
