Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5.00 headed out to course at 6.00. Got there too early was waiting around for some time so became nervious as race didnt start until 7.30

Could breath and swim was really not good. ended up doing breast stroke cause couldnt breath, dont know why maybe have the flu, nerves. wether was cold
What would you do differently?:

need to swim more in Highfeild pool. Learn to deal with stress better

didnt ride with feet on top of shoes as shoes are new and didnt want to add to the stress. Have promised to master these skills by next season

legs like bricks for first 2klms then they warmed up. managed to pick up speed on final hill. Wanted to walk the whole way but got stuborn and didnt. Run was really hard
What would you do differently?:

put own drink on stump. train more on brick training. make strides longer. enjoy it more

walk for about 2klm until breath back then stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of sleep night before, the feeling of the flu, nerves, old bike, over training, lack of confidence and lack of fittness. (basically everthing)

Don't be so hard on yourself.
You got out there and had a crack!!

Did you warm up in the water before the swim?
The cold water will take your breath away if you haven't warmed up in the water.

The early races are a good way to find areas of improvement. That is take your mistakes and learn from them.

Hey there I agree with Casie,  don't be so hard on yourself,  great job!

Nerves can really affect your swim,  learning to relax and concentrate on efficient stroke is really important.  

I don't think I'm ready to master the art of riding with my feet on my shoes and putting them on on my bike yet either, don't think I want to try that till next season
