Subject: Bike Water bottles without plastic taste?
Are there any water bottles for bikes on the market that do not have the "plastic" taste when using just for water?  Everything I have used so far seems to have this taste.  The Naglene bottles are the only ones that do not and I have not seen any for bikes.  Thanks.

Finally someone has brought this up! I HATE the taste of waterbottle! My husband claims that if you fill a new bottle with water and put a drop of bleach in it and let it sit for a little bit, the bleach will get rid of the plastic taste.

I always rinse my new waterbottles out with dish soap (Dawn or Joy or something) and it seems to remove the taste for me.

Nalgene does make a bottle that fits in bottle holders on bikes. It is long and skinny, and the water tastes fine! I think we bought ours at EMS.

I've started to use empty Gatorade bottles with the "sport" top. When they get nasty I toss them and start over.

Run them though the dishwasher (top shelf, away from the drying elements)--problem solved!

Put a little bit more than a drop and you won't have to worry about the water taste ...

Seriously, like my soon-to-be sequeled friend Cptn. Jack said, place 'em in the dishwasher, away from the heat element and with the "heat dry" function turned off.  My bottles haven't tasted like 'hose suck' since ...

i've heard there can be problems with chemical reactions or something in these and they can increase the risk of cancer if used more than once.
