Don't stand in a booth for a spray tan. That's how you end up with color in weird places. If you go to a salon, the technician has an actual airbrush (like artists use) and she will spray you. She takes her time to make sure that it is evenly applied. It is worth the extra money to have it look right. (It's only $25-$30 depending on where you go)

My vote is still "no".  If it turns bad.....without hair, I'm picturing a big orange posicle......and just wasted 10 minutes trying to find a good pic of one....to no avail.  Don't do it!  Don't listen to them!

I actually had pretty good luck with the Mystic Tan booths.  I got it done before my wedding (and did a couple of practice sessions first).  Usually, I go twice - about 2 or 3 days apart.  I didn't have any problems with the tan rubbing off on my sheets or turning orange or anything.  If I didn't do it twice, it tended to fade pretty fast.  It did rub off a bit on the inside of my wedding dress - I think because I was sweating a lot.  It was a pretty heavy dress and it was July.

I've had bad luck with the self-tanners you get in the stores.  Weird streaks and such.  No problems like that with the Mystic Tans.

I use the L'Oreal light-medium self-tanner and it works well without turning me orange or streaking. A friend just asked me if I went somewhere for spring break so it must look somewhat natural. It's $8.00. I tried it on my arm before applying to my face.

How's that for a straight answer?

Estee Lauder makes a good self tanner too. Everyone looks better with a tan. It gives you a glow.

They just had a big article on self tanners in my most recent issue of Women's Health magazine.  I think the top winner was Jergen's new self tanning lotion - they make one for body and one for face.  But they tested a bunch of other stuff that sounded interesting too, including a personal spray on tanner - it cost like $150 bucks, but if you're into spray on tans it would be worth it.

I had a Mystic tan done once and there was absolutely NOTHING to recommend it.  It was an unnatural color, it streaked, it rubbed off on my clothes....it was just yuck.
