Extreme Veteran 404 Dallas, TX | Subject: 2012 Race Schedule How's your 2012 schedule shaping up? Last year, I naively thought that 2012 would be the IM year, but after my pitiful showing at the Austin 70.3, I'm going to take another year to build the endurance base. So, here's a tentative 2012 schedule with standalone running/biking races mixed in. 1. 4/28 HITS Triathlon Series: Marble Falls - Olympic or 4/29 Kemah - Olympic 2. 5/28 Capital Of Texas - Olympic 3. 6/24 Lubbock 70.3 4. 10/28 Austin 70.3 unless I do the MCM

Veteran 290 | Subject: RE: 2012 Race Schedule the big ones for me are: Cowtown 26.2 in Ft Worth in Feb Quebec 70.3 in June Austin 70.3 in October. I plan to pick up the odd local area race as well. I also have down as a goal for 2012 to sign up for a 140.3 for 2013. I think that in general I am going to race less often next year and try and be more focused for the races that I sign up for. |

I'm sure there will be a ton of stuff that isn't on the list. But those are what I can see right now. Galveston (especially as your first HIM) + MS150 = issues for Kemah. Your body is going to be trashed. CapTex - some people like the mega Oly races like this. Others despise dealing with several thousand other people on a 24.8 mile bike course - make that a 6+ mile bike course since CapTex is a four looper. It can get real sketchy out there with that many folks on that small a course. |

It will really depend on how things playout over the winter. I'd say I'm more likely to do Kemah. I remember Cap Tex had some problems last year, but I also thought the river swim would be fun. |

Unfortunately, I'll miss Kemah for the first time due to my race schedule. No way I'm going to feel like doing Kemah after doing two 70.3's the three weeks proceeding. I will more than likely do the Houston Triathlon on September 30th. I will also look to closeout my season with one or two more 70.3 races but haven't decided on which. I was hoping the Austin 70.3 would be my year end finale each year but the quality of the roads used on the bike course was just dreadful. Which will probably lead me in another direction like the Miami 70.3. Maybe I'll do Oilman but if it sticks to the same weekend as usual it would be the weekend after Miami (or Austin as Austin moves a week later). Two 70.3's in 7 days might be a bit much. I'm racing a bunch of WTC 70.3's because I'd like to qualify for Vegas in the not so distant future. |

I did Bandera this year. Interesting. Beautiful. I suck at running on loose rocks up and down hills. Ha! |

Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: 2012 Race Schedule 2011 was dismal due to me finishing up school in May. 2012 will be more interesting... but I don't see me doing a lot of races. Feb- Cowtown half marathon I'll probably find another half marathon after this one, for a training run. May- Ironman Texas After that... I'm not sure. I might do the Marine Corps Marathon. Which would have me training from June-Oct. So basically I would do my IM, take a short break and start marathon training. I'll see what shakes out. |

Cool! I am super interested in this race, I missed it last year. I need to ramp up my running a bit after the RnRSA this weekend and get some trail runs in. I haven't done trail runs since my X-country days in high school. This brings back good memories! |
