My wife is thinking about signing up for the Colorado Marathon as her first marathon.  I was wondering if anyone has any opinions or experiences with this race.   I'm a little concerned about the elevation difference between Colorado and WI, but it still seems like a good first marathon because you're running downhill all the way.  Any insights are appreciated.  Thanks

I ran Colorado Marathon a few years ago.  It's a great course...very scenic!  And yes, net elevation loss.  Many people have PR'd on the course; however, for me it was my slowest stand-alone marathon ever.  But if your wife is looking for a scenic, well organized marathon I highly recommend it!

I don't know anything about the race itself, but I understand that running downhill for that long is actually HARDER than a flat or uphill course.  Downhill running puts a lot of extra pounding on your quads... something to think about anyway.
