This was the largest 5K (1500+ runners) I did this year (5 races) and by far the least organized. We were given timing chips to attach to our shoes, so I assumed we would get chip times and gun times. But then I realized there was no starting line timing pad (actually, I didn't see an actual starting line, period), so I lost at least 1 full minute (I started behind probably 75% of the pack), which I didn't realize until I DIDN'T cross a starting line. The course itself was nicely blocked off and monitored, but this was the first race in which I actually had to wander around in order to find the post-race food and water booths.
