Just checked the forecast:

Low:  75

High:  81

Humidity:  79%

Partly cloudy

While I'd like it to be mid-60's, I'll take this!

One concern though is the wind.  Kemah, and that area, is always windy at varying degrees.  Currently, the wind is at 10-15 knots coming from the south blowing roughly north.  That means, if it stays like this we will have a head wind during our outbound ride along highway 146, but the wind will be at our backs on the return ride.

Water temperature is at about 72 degrees.

Hope is stays this way. I have not looked into the weather yet but I rode last night in Houston and it was very windy. Strong headwinds one direction, heavy tailwind the other.

Yeah I rode yesterday after work, I live north of Houston, and it was very windy.  But while we here southeast Texas don't have the hills like many other places, we do have wind and humidity.  It's just how it is.

If the wind doesn't move too far to the E past Eagle Point, then hopefully it will be blocked some by the land and won't be TOO choppy.  Good news is we'll have a nice tail wind to hammer down on the return bike.  I'd rather have a headwind on the way out than on the way back.  For this area, it looks like a pretty nice forecast.

Half way to Kemah from Lubbock!

Just curious, what is 10-15 knots in mph? Not alot of water in West Texas so we don't use those kind of words.

Wind at BSLT 70.3 here last year was a constantly over 20 mph....is 10 knots more than that?

For us West Texss boys, we hardly feel anything under 15 mph.

Can't wait for Sunday. Heard lots of great things about Kemah and I'm Very excited about the race!

1 knot = 1.15 mph.  The water will be rougher than a lake swim, but the bike should be no issue for you.  Have a great race!

Good point.  From what i understand, the current will be moving to our right as we swim towards the exit.  The buoys will be on our right as well.  Also, low tide for the area is around 6:40 am on Sunday so the tide will slowly be coming in when we are jumping off the paddle boat.

I'm really bummed right now. I've been fighting some sinus issues since Monday, went to the doc on Tuesday. Woke up this morning, and took my 2 1/2 year old to "run" in the running of the bears, by the time I got home, I had a 101 fever. So no Kemah for me this year. I was really looking forward to it. Y'all have fun, and I'll see you at the next one.

Aaron and crew did a great job. But like an old broken record the timing company still sucks. Still don't have all my times. They told me at the van they had them, waited another hour and a half, never posted. Only first 2 Athena's 40+ had their numbers.

Case in point. I came in 4th which I expected. Another Athena came in 3rd, she was there until the end when they gave 3rd place hardware to somebody else.

Hi fived you coming out of the water!  I'm sure you had that tunnel vision going.  lol

You looked great!  I volunteered for a few hours that morning.  Wishing every minute that I was in the race this year.

I'll be back next year Kemah!  Best watch out!

Another top-notch race put on by ONURMARK!  Thanks!!

Speaking of the timing company...I wonder how may people got home and realized they still had their timing chips on their ankle?  nobody was collecting them at the finish so luckily I stumbled on the tent that was collecting them as i was walking out of the food area.  as i was driving out of Kemah I saw at least a dozen people walking to their cars with their chips still on. I told a few of them, but I bet that's going to be a headache sorting it all out today.

Timing chips are disposable. No need to return them. BTW we will NEVER use those crappy straps again. We tested them and they seemed fine. To our shock a lot of people had problems with them. We fixed most of them. Just added trouble and stress no one needs. We live and learn. Improvement for Bridgeland.

Thanks Aaron. I planned to just pick up my own strap, easy fix. I didn't have major issues with the strap just some discomfort. After another tough Kemah I am looking forward to Bridgeland.

oh...I thought it was just the straps that were disposable, cool.  i didn't mind the strap.  it was a little annoying at first, but forgot it was there after about 10min.

Any opinions on the water and wind conditions?

This was my first Olympic and I don't know what those seas were - had to have been at least 2 feet of chop.

The forecast was also for 10 - 12 mph winds and heading out, it sure seemed like a lot more than that.

None of those things are in the control of the RD though - I'll definitely be back next year.

As usual, great race again Aaron & Co.  First class all the way.  Watch out, we're starting to expect it.

Would have been nice to have a little more room in the after race party area, but when you do as good of a job as you guys do, every one wants to be there, so it's going to get crowded, just thought it'd be nice to have a bit more breathing room.

The waves seemed normal to me for an ocean swim.  I expected worse, so was pleasantly surprised.  The wind on the bike was booger.  I expected worse on that too, but since my power is so weak, I wasn't so pleasantly surprised on that one.    The tail wind ROCKED though!!!!!  Last year I noticed some pile up on traffic (car), and this year it looked GREATLY diminished.  I think you may have hit the sweet spot on the bike route as far as car traffic goes.  Much preferred the run course this year to last year.  Don't know why, just liked it better.  I think you had some unregistered volunteers too handing out Ozarka bottled water to the runners.  It's worth noting that the people who live int eh community we run through do a great job supporting the race.  That makes it even more fun, IMO.

It's my favorite race of the year.
