That trips great, makes we want to come and explore a bit!

I had a nice barefoot beach 6k run last night and then met up with some mates at the pub, beers a recovery drink now apparently!

Tonight I ran an easy 2k with my 8th old and our arthritic Labrador , time for some wine now!

Happy Thursday!  Fun runs yesterday guys!

For me today:  3.5 miles after 60 minutes on the trainer.  I think Thursdays are my favorite workout.

Yep. Grand Canyon today. My husband woke us up before sunrise, and we all went out and watched the sun come up over the Little Colorado River canyon. I had Navajo Fry Bread for breakfast. Very bad of me. My oldest son asked me if he could stay in Arizona and become a foster child to a Navajo family. Should I be insulted? I wasn't. I told him I completely understood.

Seeing the Grand Canyon was the fulfillment of a lifetime dream. I was overwhelmed.

Ran 18+ minutes this evening on a hotel treadmill -- ran until it came up with an error message and abruptly stopped. Bagged it, even though I was hoping to go at least 30 minutes.

We're 300 miles from LA. I'm kind of sad to be leaving the southwest, but Disney is calling to us.

So my streak is still alive. :-) I'm not racking up the miles, but I'm running every day.

Sounds like you're having a great time Felicia!

Got my one mile jog in this morning.  Last day of school until Jan. 3 whooohoooo!  My real challenge will be getting my runs in from Sunday-Thursday.  Heading to Boise, staying with friends, all sorts of fun stuff going on but I am determined to keep the streak alive!

My Jingle Jog 5K is tomorrow...going to really get my students amped up for it today!

Have a great Friday!

Hi Guys!  I'm finally back to running!  I had to walk my mile a couple of days during the flu but I got them done and am still streaking!  In another week, I should be back to my normal self.  Cheers!

Did my planned 20 minute run today.  Thank goodness that's all that was on my plan.  I don't have to feel bad about cutting a workout short due to being sick.  On a good note, I'm feeling better.  Not 100% yet, but getting better.

That is per km and only for the 5k. Looking at your logs you probably will have that in you once you start doing some repeats on your marathon training. Do you have 800-1600 meter repeats at 5k pace in your training?

Alright finally got my monthly mileage to just over 10% increase.  The plan I had originally put in was almost 40% over last month and that was too heavy.  Now I just need to hit my long runs and plan on hitting it hard in January!

See no reason to stop running every day in January either - so if anyone wants to continue/restart after New Years Eve let me know - I am game!

I'll keep going! Tongue out

I dislocated my ankle this evening.  Like foot-stuck-in-unnatural-position type of dislocation.  I popped it back into place with an audible noise from the joint and then writhed in pain on my living room floor.  This was supposed to be my evening at home by myself without husband and toddler.  I was so looking forward to doing a little yoga and then baking cookies.  Now I'm sitting on the couch with ice packs and a glass of wine to dull the pain.  (This has happened before.  It just hasn't happened in over a year.)  Good gawd!  I just got over the flu!  Throw me a bone!

On second thought, the last time I had the flu, it was followed by a chaser of pneumonia.  I think I'll take this inconvenience.

In So Cal now. Got a 2.02 mile run in this morning on the treadmill. Man, I hate that thing.

The friend I'm staying with is a running buddy from high school. She still runs. I'm hoping we can go out together tomorrow -- if I can keep up with her. lol

Ran 3.75 miles this morning through the hills of Temecula. My legs are a little sore.

I think my friend is going to try to run with me tomorrow for about 6 miles -- if she can manage to go as slowly as I run. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to tell her to go ahead and I'll just try to keep up with her. She's training for a half in January.

So the streak is alive and looking good.

Heeeeey streakers!

Yesterday got 3 miles in at my Jingle Jog 5K...that was a blast.

Today another 3 miles is all I had time for after 60 mins on the trainer.  Heading to Boise today...hoping to get some fun runs in while I'm there, but it may be just the bare bones mile a day---lots of stuff going on.  I will be packing running stuff nevertheless.  I'm looking at this week Sunday-Thursday as a bit of a breather before my actual 18 week marathon training schedule starts.

Felicia...one of the friends I am visiting is a runner as well...we've talked about trying to get a run in together, but I fear the same, I'll have to tell her to go ahead of me!  Ah well, as long as I'm out there!

Anyone read Dean Karnazes Ultramarathon Man?  Read it yesterday----WOWWWW.  Talk about inspiring.  I'm starting on RUN! today--his follow up.

I dont know which plan youare doing but most have an interval component. Just follow it. Pfitzinger has great plans though if you are still looking. He starts with 600 meter intervals at 5k pace moving up to mile intervals at 5k pace, usually you do about 5k total of intervals so 7 at 600 meters and 3 at a mile, the break inbetween is 60 - 90% of time to do the intervals of jogging. I have done mile intervals at 10k pace, but I don't think that is a great marathon workout. With the 5k intervals they are gut busting and hurt and really kind of strange if you never ran that fast before, which I hadn't.

FWIW I tried them in my 2010 with a hacked together program that I did that was about 80k a week. I had a hard time even with the mile repeats at 10k pace. But, after a good 2010 of running I found that this year I could handle those 5k pace repeats in the 70 mile pfitzinger program. So, I suppose I am saying, don't be dissappointed if you can't handle the intervals for a bit.

I would like to suggest pfitzingers 55 mile plan to you but I am not sure you quite have the base for it and you may be risking injury if you up your mileage and intensty too quickly, which pfitzinger does.

eta: I suppose a good place to start is with Yasso 800s. They are fun and hard. I think they are less than ideal for marathon training but you are probably unlikely to injury yourself.
