Subject: Anybody have a Kodak Playsport camera?

One of my daughters would like a flip type video camera for Christmas or her birthday.  I have been researching a little bit and it looks like the playsport would be a god fit because of the waterproof and shockproof features.  I thought I remembered people on here talking about the camera.  Does anybody have one?  Do you like it?  I have read the older ZX3 is better than the newer ZX5 - any reviews?  Or any other suggestions?

Thanks!

We bought each of our girls one last year. One made it a week before suffering a thermal meltdown after use in water. The other one simply locked up and did nothing about a week later. Target happily refunded out money.

I have one and LOVE it!  We took it to Idaho snowboarding last winter and snorkeling on our honeymoon in October.  Picture is great.  I've been very happy with it so far.

We really like ours I did some underwater filming of our daughter in the pool worked great. Fits in your pocket like a small phone.

We love ours. I've spent hours in the pool with it stuffed in the pocket of my swimsuit. Gone down the slide while filming. Filmed my daughter's first roller coaster ride, while I was on the ride with her. I strapped it to my ski boot when I was teaching my daughter to ski last year. It's still working fine. Video quality is acceptable. It's small so it's easy to keep handy. Battery life is decent.

We love ours. We use it at the pool and outside. It takes really good videos as well as great pictures. Its also very easy to use and our 5 year old has shot video and taken tons of pictures with it. I think she would love it.

Yeah it has potential and both cameras took really good pics and video. I inspected the one that leaked and noticed the seal was deformed. Maybe Princess 1.0 jammed it shut over some sand, we were at the beach. A little extra care might prevent that. The second unit, i really don't have a clue. It just froze and would not do anything. Buy from a big store and return if your experience is like ours.

I have one. Haven't had any issues with it so far. I think using it can be a challenge, because the User Guide that comes with it was written for a 5 year old, and it doesn't even cover all the features. If you go online, you still can't find all the features listed and how to use them. Weird. I had it on a setting I couldn't get it off of, and I think with A LOT OF RESEARCH I finally figured it out.

Otherwise, I film swim coaching clients with it. I tried to upload the video but my laptop didn't even enough memory to upload anything. So I'm not sure what the video/pics look like OFF the camera.

Thanks for all the reviews. We're not very computer savvy here, I am worried about getting the video on to the computer. For those who have done that- is it easy to get the videos onto DVDs after that? I think that is what my daughter would like to do with her movies.

Yes. real easy to put on the computer. I just opened it like an external drive and drug the content into a folder. Video format is .mov and pictures are .jpeg. I don't recall if it came with software, I typically don't use the sw that comes with cameras/recorders. Here are a couple images in Cozumel, the greenish ones were in pretty low light.
