Got some valve extenders for my 50mm carbon clinchers but have never used them.  Can anyone instruct me?  Feel like an idiot. Thanks

They screw on to the top of the existing valve and have threads on top of the extender as well.  Do I just leave the original valve uncrewed and put the pump on the extender and pump?

Yes, open the valve and screw on the extender and pump away.

Some people will wrap with plumbers tape to make sure its sealed.

I second the Plumbers Tape or Teflon tape.

I think if you can get tubes with 80mm valves (the are spendy) and avoid valve stem adaptors you will be better off.

Some valve extenders have a screw and can open and close the valve underneath some do not and you just leave your valves open.

I think the threads on top of the valve are for you pump to grab onto or with some pumps the "chuck" threads on.

What extenders did you buy?

Thanks for the replies.

They are Edge ELite Valve Extenders.  We will see if they hold the air but will use teflon when putting them on.  Thanks
