Subject: Ironman 70.3 New Orleans or Texas Ironman 70.3 Galveston?

This will be my first HIM race.  I am in Louisiana.  Any others I should consider?  Like most first-timers, I prefer flat and fast and really a closed body of water.

I am from Vicksburg so I am near you.  I haven't done Texas but I have done NO 70.3.  I had a good race but it is not very logistically friendly and you have a good chance of the swim being cancelled.  Given that I would choose Texas.  I am not sure if your interested in Floriday but there is a half named Gulf Coast Triathlon in May that is a very good race.  I liked it alot better than New Orleans.

I have done NOLA a couple of times and Austin once.  Logistically for the racer I liked NOLA better than Austin with a single transition area, parked near transition (Austin you parked then took bus to race), etc.  Can't comment about Galveston as I haven't done it. 

As for the NOLA swim being cancelled, how many times has that happened?  It happened in 2011 but not in 2010 and I don't believe it happened in 2009.
