Subject: Body Glide Just Isn't Working

I've been having issues with my wetsuit chaffing my neck during hte swim almost everytime I wear it.  It's only been an issue since I shaved my head.   Before my wetsuit would just tug on my hair in that area.  Until I grow my hair back the chaffing is probably going to be an issue.

I've tried Bodyglide, and in my last tri I evenapplied two layers of it because one layer wasn't doing the job.  But it still start rubbing early on int he swim.  Does anyone know of anything else that might work better?  I've thought of trying vasoline or aquaphor.  Any other recommendations??  I don't know if I can handle another painful wetsuit hickie!

Janelle I learned Sun watching the pro's get ready that we don't use enough Glide. These guys were rubbing it thick and had others really rubbing it into their skin on their backs, shoulders, back of the legs and neck.
Then they kept rubbing it in, where I thought you just kinda of put it on like stick deoderant.

You got to watch the pros apply Body Glide??  I'm sooo jealous.

You're right.  I probably don't spend enough time rubbing it in- I kinda just apply it.  Although at St. A's I thought I applied it really well but that wasn't the case.  Maybe I'll try that next time.  Thanks for the tip- I can't help but follow it, since that's what the pros do

I was having problems with my nipples chafing from my bike jersey and run shirts until a friend recommended SportShield.

I have the roll-on version and it rocks.  Layer it on before a ride, and I haven't had any problems since.  B/c it is a fluid, it goes on easier than BodyGlide (which I also have), and also has some Aloe to keep your skin nice and soft.

If the body glide wont do it, you might try a different approach. Could you use a waterproof bandaid(s) to protect that area during your swim?

Duct tape. Of course, that's my universal solution.

As for the rubbing in of the body glide........Well, I'll just stop right there before I get a slap.

This ranks up there with frosting your butt like a cake.

I've thought about that.  I could just rip the band aids off in T1.

I also thought about applying bodyglide to my wetsuit where it rubs.  not sure if that would help or not.  I just don't know why it's such an issue- I never had this problem before!

I got THREE wetsuit hickeys.  I'm not happy.  I thought I used a lot of bodyglide.  Instead of a stick, why won't it come in a jar?  It would be easier to apply in the way gullah described.  Just slather it on.

I got NO chafing from my new BT trisuit by the way.  I could of as well been naked.  It's so comfy.

I had this problem on my first few OWS training sessions. I realized that a big part of the problem is that I was turning my head too much to breathe. I worked on my body rotation for a while and focused on keeping my head as still as possible. The problem has improved significantly.
