Looking at this for 2013 and the website says it has sold out for the past 4 years - anyone have any idea on how fast? Do I need to pull the trigger now?

It has sold out in 8 or 9 months. After the swim and race reports, I have a feeling it will not sell out any faster for 2013.

By the way: is there any significance to the necklace we were given after the finish? I'm talking about the one made of shells not the medal of course!

Congratulations on your finish. I did not get a necklace this year but remember them from last year. They have no significant meaning other than CONGRATULATIONS. I gave mine to a friend who traveled down there offer support since she didn't race.

I am one of the ones who got caught up in that damn swim mess...I went to make that last turn and I just couldn't move forward.  Ended up getting pulled out.  It was kind of a disappointment but I am bound and determined to be an IM finisher.

I remember you running past me on the last loop of the run. The merchandise on the site does not show anything for Cozumel. In the past, the store at Punta Langosta was the only place to buy branded items.

I'm hoping some things show up on the website soon. We didn't make it down to the Ironman store Monday. We ventured downtown Tuesday and it was closed already! Dear Ironman people, put some stuff up on your website and I'll spend all the money!

We just got back last night from Cozumel. I finished in just under 14 hours feeling great. The marathon went better than I could have imagined. I'll write a complete race report but I have to say that the swim was crazy. There is no question that I am a bad swimmer but the change in current was baffling. I should have finished the swim in about 1:30 - 1:40. Instead I made the swim cut off by 5 minutes. I downloaded the race data from my watch today and was looking at the swim. I swam the first 1.97 miles in 1:05:xx. The last leg, from the left turn at the buoy to the steps took me 1:10:xx! I did manage to get myself off course somewhat and swim an extra .25 miles but it is still ridiculous. I was actually getting kind of seasick by the time I got to the exit.

The local support was amazing and I truly had a great time. Riding and running thru town was so much fun. I could definitely see doing this race again in the future.

Wow, and I thought I was just having a bad day.

Congratulations to those that were able to make it through!!!!

This is a great venue, and I would probably do it again.

Funny how now that I am a few weeks out from regular training (since I didn't train the three weeks leading up to the race), I am already thinking about another one!

When people ask me if I'd do another one, I went from "naw" to "....maaaybe!" LOL. I don't think it's going to be this year, though. I want to work on rebuilding some run speed (I lost a lot this year) and doing some strength training. There's a May marathon I really want to do. And making babies, and right now I'm not sure that my marriage would survive another round of IM training.

I've just put up my race report: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=471335

It wasn't a great day for me due to an injury which flared up during the bike. The island and people were fantastic though!

I finished the race report on my blog! It's long, probably too long. I have a near photographic memory and I wanted to keep every detail for posterity.

Does an official 2012 event poster exist?

I pride myself on having a poster from each of my IM's and was in such a hurry at the expo I didn't look around for one.  I also didn't see one at the finisher gear store.  Did I miss something or did they just not have one?

If anyone has one that they'd like to part with - a spare or otherwise - PM me and we'll coordinate making that happen.
