IM Forida is on my schedule. I hope I can pull it off.

I hope things go better for me this year. Last year included a broken toe, sprained ankle and broken ribs. None of these injuries happened during training... terrible luck. On top of that, my child started pre-k and I got sick no less than 8 times from all the stuff that went around that school last year. So my first year of training was miserable. But since October things have been good, (except for having a cold the last week.) I've lost 45 pounds, dropped my blood pressure from 150/100 to 128/78, my resting heart rate has gone from 70 down to 44, and I feel great!

Tri training has most likely saved my life Smile

Not to hurt myself AGAIN.

2011 was a doozy - tendonitis, torn rib muscles, stitches and two broken fingers which are only 2 weeks into the healing process.Cry

I don't have any specific racing goals, the races are just the icing on the cake for me.  My goals are all training related.  1200 miles running, 3000 miles biking, and work on my swim stroke to bring me under 2:00/yd for the longer swims.  Add some strength training once a week.

I don't know why, i seem to like the training more than the races!

Now that we're at the end of 2012, how did you all do with your goals?

Looking back at my post from January, I see that I hit some (running and swimming), and not others (cycling and strength).  I ended up running more at the end of the year to get ready for some ultras instead of keeping up my cycling after my last race in Sept.

I also noticed that my goals throughout the year changed.  In January I said I had no race goals, but through the year I came up with some as my fitness improved, and I'm glad to say I met most of them.  5:30 half (5:21), sub 42 10k (41:xx), sub 20 5k (19:12).  Didn't meet my Oly goal, but that was only because I didn't race a true Oly this year.

How did you all do this year looking back?

I wanted to get from obese, to normal.

Done.

I wanted to lose 50 pounds.

I've lost 52.5  ( I lost 50 by july, then just worked on fitness.  Now I want to lose 20 more by June for my HIM,  2.5 down... )

I was essentially starting from zero thanks to the hip and knee issues.
I wanted to look respectable in the local crits.

I won my first B crit, and by the end of the summer was keeping up with the main pack in the A crits.

Local TTs I got myself up to a 38.5 km/h ( 24 mph ) average over 10 miles / 16 km.

I wanted to ride a century again.

I did 2 double centuries a well as a ride that was REALLY close, but had 13,000 feet climbing on a highway that lots of cars overheat and burst into flames.

I wanted to get running regularly once I hit the 2 year mark from my hip surgery in october.

I have ran 15 of the last 16 days at least 5km
I have run 25 km on a training run.
I have done a pub race where I did a 6 km run at a 4:32 min/km pace.

I wanted to get a swim coach and get past the 2:00/100m pace.

I can now sprinst about a 1:22 and do about 1:40/100m on my 5x100s

I had goals, and I KILLED them.

Oh yeah, and I wanted to be prepared to do a HIM in 2013, full iron distance tri in 2014.

I've already signed up for both this summer. 12 weeks apart.

Met all my goals - completed IMLP, PRed the HIM distance a month later (despite going in with almost no training since the IM and doing it just for fun), and PR'ed the local weekly sprint series 15 days after IMLP. Oh yeah, and completed my first standalone marathon, an hour faster than my IMLP run time despite my longest run being 15 miles (due to IT band flareup).

A very good year. Getting psyched to start training for 2013 on Tuesday!
