1.  What is everyone doing for events?

2. Where do you find out about most of your races?

1. For sure QC triathlon, Bix 7, Racine 70.3 and QC marathon. There will also be some local 5ks and some mountain bike races. Might do Palo tri.

2. Word of mouth, prior experience and the web.

I haven't paid my entry for anything yet but I had to back out of Pigman HIM last year because lack of training so I want a bit of revenge.

I love the living history farms run so I hope to do that again.

Hyvee Triathlon is a must since it's so late in the season.  Did it 2 years ago when they reduced it to a sprint due to weather... still have a pain in my side about that.

And my dream goal would be the Des Moines marathon.  We'll see.

How do I hear about races?

The nice people at Fitness Sports in Windsor Heights near university and 73rd.

I find out about the races from ftnesssports.com. They also have a store as mentioned before.

I love the Living History Farm race and managed to claim the title of marathoner at the Des Moines marathon in 2011.

I am hopeing to do the Hy-Vee Triathlon this year along with a few others such as the Iowa Games to kick off my tri season.

I'm not signed up yet, but am definitely going to be doing the QC Tri in June with my family.  This is my first year at the sport and they're all super-excited to see my sister, her husband, and myself accomplish something like this!

Since I now live in St. Louis, most of my other race focus will be down here, but I'd say that the QC Tri will be the one I'm looking most forward to.

If you haven't already, I would sign up, it's over half full already!

As for me:

Quad Cities Distance Classic (13.1)

Quad Cities Triathlon (Sprint)

Quad City Times Bix 7

Hy-Vee Triathlon (Olympic)

I will also be doing a few 5k's and 10k's throughout the year as well.

I spent quite a bit of time last summer traversing through Iowa on my way back & forth between Chicago and Omaha.  Having driven through the entire state more times than I'd like to remember I thought I'd hit the road and do some Triathlons in your lovely State.  I've recently been diagnosed and being treated for Rheumatoid Arthritis, which at 35 years old is both unexpected and quite depressing.  So, in true Type-A fashion, I'm on drugs to push the RA down and I've signed up for quite the full race list (crossing my fingers that I can actually train and participate as scheduled):

05/12/12Quarryman Challenge 10 Miler ILLINOIS
06/02/12 Leon's Worlds Fastest Triathlon (Olympic) INDIANA
07/21/12Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 Miler (Trail Run) ILLINOIS
08/05/12 Oswego Triathlon (Sprint) ILLINOIS
08/19/12 Pigman Long Course Triathlon (HIM) IOWA
09/02/12 Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon (Olympic) IOWA

Most of the events I'm doing this year are events I've heard about before or have done in the past.
