Erincsg - 2012-01-04 10:31 PM Thank you!  This Newbie is so glad to have found BT and has learned  A LOT from you all !

x2.  I will do my first Tri this June/July, followed by a HIM in August.  I would have done it without BT, but the experience and value of BT will make these events way more productive.  I used to run marathons only.  When I started, I didn't even know how to get into the pool, not to mention swim to the other side.

Soon I will be a triathlete!

Great Post netzer0!

My friends and family already think that I am crazy for running marathons, does this mean that they will think that I am crazier still?

Probably, until one family member notices your energy, body conditioning, and nutrtrition habits for what they are, gives it a shot, and gets sucked into the vortex. Finding ways to enjoy life more is hard, and if someone is really looking, the demands and rewards of multi sport fitness will call like a siren, it's only a matter of time and willpower. It's really hard to call someone crazy when they're happy, doing something they love, are in great shape, and have friends that support them!

Wanted to join in to say "Thank you", from a newbie in northeastern Kentucky. Would ask for advice, but it seems that when I have a question, either BT will post an article, or there's a forum that is perfect. As a newbie, AND new to endurance training (always played basketball), this is the site for me!

Best to all!

Really nice open letter to all newbies - Thanks.

I started competing last year  at age 55 (yes my people think I am crazy) and wound up competing in 4 races.  Already have 6 penciled in for 2012 and cannot agree more regarding the help, the advice and encouragement received via the site here.

Great post and thanks,

as A newbe wanta be  triathlete, I thought I was in pretty good condition having been an experenced distance trail runner and having done a few duathlons, but adding trying to learn to swim to the mix at 58 has really kicked my butt, but as you said in mostly a good way. Joining a coached tri training  group for 3 hrs on saturday's and then 2hrs in the pool sunday +1 an hour in the gym, added to my normal  customary 3 runs a week has really showed me just how out of shape I really was.

And your right most of my family & my wife are beginning to think I have had a few screws come Loose, my co-workers just think I am plain crazy and have gone right over the edge.
