HITS Triathlon Series

Total Time = 1h 51m 23s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 43 - athena
Age Group Rank = 1/
Event warmup:

stretching and light jog to warm-up
  • 16m 36s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards

Did well on swim, came out of water in top 10 for women, since we were only 3 minutes behinnd men, had to swim around lots of the men. Did not wear a wetsuit, only 3 or 4 others not in wetsuit, so I started to question my decision, to not rent one, but once i got in the water the temp. did not bother me, it was only when i got out that the cold really hit me.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, everything went as planned.
Transition 1
  • 04m

hands were so cold had a difficult time getting them to work. I spent a little more time in transition then normal, but I've never raced in such cold temps., so maybe that's mormal.
  • 43m 54s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.40 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Try to figure out what happened with the chain, so it doesn't happen again.
Transition 2
  • 02m 40s

It was in transition that i realized that my feet were numb, this would be big problem on run.
  • 42m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 13m 40s  min/mile

My feet were numb for the first 1.5 miles, this made it extremely difficult to run. I walked for much of the first mile. I was very disappointed with my run.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out why my feet were numb and change whatever caused this.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cold temperatures and numb feet.

Event comments:

I enjoyed this race, even though the weather was so cold. Since it was only my second triathlon, I am ok with how everything went.
