Total Time = 18m 7s
Overall Rank = 7/186
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 2/20
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at my weekday time 5:15. Had a cup of coffee, caught up on my pathetic fantasy baseball team, and had a bowl of HN Cheerios with banana. Packed my camelback backpack with some running clothes and crammed one sneaker in and strapped the other one on. Biked the 16 miles or so to Derry for the 5k. Saw Jules, Christine, and gary already there. Peter and Michelle got there at about 10 minutes of... They made it into the race just on time. I had a water bottle on the way down and half a bottle of gatorade. I also chomped down 1/2 a powerbar brcause I was getting hungry.
Event warmup:

Jules, Gry and i jogged up the street a bit before the race to warm up and then it was time to go. Positioned myself towards the front on the outside. No more being overly conservative and having to battle through tons of bodies to get into my race.
Run
  • 18m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 05m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. PR by 4 seconds on a tougher course with a very steep hill. Pace was pretty consistant. Disapointed to get passed in the last 1/2 mile. Not sure if I've ever let that happen before. Next goal id to break 18 min.
What would you do differently?:

run faster
Post race
Warm down:

None - Except bike home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The biking last night and this AM. + - no taper.

Event comments:

Well run. Nice race. nice trophy! GREAT spread after -rice crispy treats - cookies etc etc etc... !!!!loved it! One question.. Guy in my AG won the race - so I was 2nd in my AG - yet the said I "won" my Ag. Is that how it works? Guy who wins the race is out of the Ag rankings, or did they screw up?

Performance: Good
Freakin... The multisport function on the FR 301 doesn't record splits data, so I don't have the mile splits(Grrrr!!!!-I have every training run with my split) But because I biked first, and didn't reset, it threw it into multisport mode w/o splits. Anyway, the guy at split 1 said 5;3x I think, and mile 2 was all uphill so.. about even splits...

Hey, thanks Shawn!

You're getting there!  I'm just in awe of anyone who can get out and do this sport and also have a  family!  That, to me, is amazing!

Thanks!

How'd your wetsuit work out?  I'm DYING to give mine a try too, but it's still too cold here in NH, and I don't have the guts to wear it to the Y! :-)
