I just came across this new event and was wondering if anyone knows what the trails are like up there?  I did XTERRA Lory last season and Without Limits does a fantastic job, I can only assume this event will be the same if not better.

Well, we just booked camping for Memorial Day weekend to check it out.  Looks good from what I've read online.

Just got an e-mail that it only has 34 slots remaining, and XTERRA Lory just 14

We went up camping and riding this past weekend. It's gorgeous there! My husband is doing the race and I have to say as a newbie I would have to push my bike a bunch if I was doing it. The trails are pretty technical. We had a blast though. I can't wait to see the race. I'm sure our toddler will be cheering for everyone!

Hello! I've been a member for a while but just discovered the CO group.

I rode the course on Saturday. The trails are great! I recommend getting up there at least once. The first 8 or 9 miles are rocky and somewhat technical. The only times I dismounted would be when the trail went between some narrow rocks. Pretty much everything is ridable. Definitely benefit from keeping it in the middle ring up front and momentum is your friend. Got air multiple times. I ride full suspension all the time but I would recommend if you have the choice bring all the squish you have.

The last section the trail was technically much easier and fast. However I see the potential for spilling out because some of this was sandy/gravely. Riding up the Canyon trail near the end the switchbacks were steep and loose. I'm not sure if I will ride these or dismount and run up the whole thing.

I will probably head up one more time before the race to get a better feel for the last 1/3 of the course.

Great advice and post.  We highly recommend everyone pre-ride the course at least once if not more.  There's some technical and tough sections that can sneak up on you if you're not prepared.  That last climb on Canyons is a tough one and we added an aid station to the top of the climb before the fast recovery section on Shoreline to T/A.  Overall the trail system is amazing and in great shape this early in the year.  Curt Gowdy has a trail day planned the week before the race to touch up any hot spots on course.

Great...I hope you have some lawn chairs for us!

Anybody staying in the group campsite that they have arranged?  I have reservations at the campground next door, so will probably stick with that.

Glad you had fun!

I had fun too.  I was just pulling the burley trailer, sheraping gear and cheering.  Gorgeous place to camp, watch a race and cheer.  Everyone was super friendly as well.  My husband had fun at his first Xterra and is already talking about what race to do next.  Sounds like we might be heading to Beaver Creek.  It was nice to get to watch an Xterra before my turn at Lory.

I could have used a Sherpa...I was solo for this one. First I was excited that I was parked near the finish but as I'm sitting there I realized my car keys were in my hydration pack at the Transition area.

Next year I'll stash the keys by the car. Or Maybe Without Limits could have a car key shuttle service?

My first Xterra and my first tri of any kind in about 3 years.  I thought the race was great and well organized!  I was not well prepared, but I knew that going in.  Camped right near transition.

For those who have done Indian Peaks, how does this compare?  I ran into one guy who said the bike at Curt Gowdy made Indian Peaks look easy.
