Comments: The first five miles were run well above pace because I was worried I would be removed from the course. Once I reached the back of the pack I relaxed but figured it was no longer worth pushing it because I did not cross a start mat. I finished with my Garmin reading 4:28 and the finish line 5:01. The official time was 4:36, so I think they took my average pace from the first timing mat at the 10k spot and extrapolated a total. What would you do differently?: Try to get to the race two and a half hours early. Post race
Warm down: Three beers and four slices of pizza. What limited your ability to perform faster: I ran a marathon the sat after Thanksgiving and have not run had a run over 10 miles since. Last updated: 2012-01-07 12:00 AM

I attempted to get to the race start an hour or more early and was stuck in traffic on the interstate for more than an hour. I had to park far away and run around a mountain to get to the train that would take me to the start. When I got there they were taking everything down and everyone was gone, so I just started running. Fortunately I was carrying a bottle of water because the water stations were gone until about mile 5 or so.
