Thanks to ryanone I was recently shown this link about dimpled wheels that zipp makes.

http://www.zipp.com/_media/pdfs/technology/rough_around_the_edges.pdf

I read the entire article and understand some of it and some of it is just above me.

So I'm wondering if the basic question can be answered because I get lost in all the tech terms.

For an average AG will dimples in wheels make THAT much of a difference for the cost? Or, if an average AG would he/she be fine with non dimpled?

Don't sit up and ride the horns for 10 seconds and you will have made up the difference between dimpled and non-dimpled.

My answer: No. The dimples don't make a tangible difference to the age grouper.

the dimpled/non-dimpled stuff is pretty irrelevant imo.  I think the new firecrest design is a much bigger breakthrough for zipp along with their full structural carbon clincher which is the main reason they are still considered top of the line.

If dimples mattered that much, the entire pro peloton would be using them.

But they look PRO. haha

Mine make me think I'm faster, so I go faster.

Personally, if I didn't find a nice deal on them I wouldn't worry about dimpled/non dimpled wheels.
