Have people seen the Nytro packages listed in the adds on this site?

What's the catch? These seem too good to be true for the prices.  I Interested in entry level stuff and 2k (I'm sure + tax + ship) seems incredibly cheap for a bike wetsuit, shoes, pedals, clothing.

JMO, but I don't think there is a catch. If you break everything down the deal is legit. Good deal for buyer and seller. From what I've read, Nytro has done well by a lot of folks.

x2.  For a beginner needing all new equipment, the $1,999 deal is solid.  The Kestrel Talon with 105 components is a really good entry level bike and you basically get everything else for free......

Nytro is a great shop.  I have always been treated wonderfully by those folks.  It's a great shop with friendly and knowledgeable people.

Do the math and check to see how good the deal is. I looked at it and doing the math didn't think it that great of a deal.

It assumes you want all the items in the package. Will the wetsuit fit you? tri shorts? tri top?

Key is to make sure the bike fits you well and the other items are things you would want and use.

You're better off getting a bike that fits and is better than a Kestrel.

x2.  I quickly googled every product in their package...and even if you were to buy everything separate, you would only pay $2084.

If a Cervelo fits you, you're better off with a P1 (about $1100-1300), and use the extra $700-900 to get exactly what you want in shoes, tri clothing, etc.

Depends on how much you value a carbon frame vs aluminum frame................

ETA:  Not getting into fit at this time.  I do not know if a person who fits the Cervelo would fit the Kestrel, or vice versa............

Probably about as much as I value Ultegra over 105...not much at all.

OK did a little research on my own.

according to Nytro's site where it individually prices each of the parts of this package excluding the transition bag...the total cost is $2225 or a savings of roughly only $225 (not as much as I thought).

Searching around I could cut an additional $200 from the bike cost, $35 from the wetsuit, $35 for the pedals, and $25 from the helmet (didn't look at the shorts and shirts that are reasonably priced, or at the water bottle and cage that are negligible)....so I can knock off an additional $295-300 making the package just about a wash (maybe slightly more expensive than picking theparts up undividually...though I have no idea how shipping from individual sources vs one makes a difference. One stop shopping is nice.

So on the surface looks like a good deal...but looking closer is no overall bargain.

Didn't figure out the 3k package.

All3sports has the same beginner package.

What does everyone have against Kestrel?  All I ever hear on this site is fit fit fit.  If the Kestrel fits well, then why not.

This can make a big difference.  Any analysis of this offer MUST consider shipping costs..........

It's a solid deal if you start out and not exactly know what you do need. This will get you started with pretty much everything you need. And yes, if you really know your stuff and are willing to shop around (especially used), then you can save even a bit more, but that requires some prior knowledge.

Bike fit aside, which is the most important thing.  I'll take $500 bike that fits over a $2K bike that doesn't.

The deal is pretty solid, not an absolute "oh my God, I've got to jump on this now" kind of deal, but good nonetheless.  Shipping costs add up, so yes you might be able to get that tri-suit 10 bucks cheaper somewhere else, but now you've just added $8 in shipping.  In the end I think that you will find that you might be able to save a few more bucks by striking out on your own and getting all the parts in the deal.  But you will also have to spend a few hours scouring the web and/or local shops to do so.  My time is much more valuable to me.

All the parts of the deal are pretty solid, again not the highest quality, but more than sufficient for any beginner.

The OP is interested in entry level equipment, thus the discussion of the $1,999 package.
