Swim
  • 19m 15s
  • 966 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

First open water swim. I was caught off guard at the start, it was so frantic! Too many people around me and a few times I felt people on all sides of me. All in all, after I relaxed and got into my rhythm, it was good.
What would you do differently?:

The first minute to two minutes, I tried to swim with my head completely out of water so I could see. I realized all this did was make me dog tired. I need to keep my head in the water like a pool swim, and improve on my navigation.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

First transition. I had never practiced before. I felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks right out of the water. The run was long from the lake to the transition area. By the time I hit my bike, I was panting pretty hard. I think it was more from nerves than being out of breath, though.
What would you do differently?:

Improve on getting out of my wetsuit and into my socks/shoes. I lost time probably placing my wet suit down and getting my shoes on.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 1s
  • 22 miles
  • 17.60 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt awesome on the bike. I was able to pass a lot of people and maintain my lead. At the end, though, I let two women pass me and I know I should have stayed strong and not let them pass me.
What would you do differently?:

Stay strong all the way through the end. Make sure I am drinking enough. I did not finish my bottle.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Again, this is my first shot at transitions. I have to perfect them a bit more.
What would you do differently?:

Unclip out of my pedals a little earlier. Also, I need to work on getting my bike shoes off faster.
Run
  • 35m 18s
  • 4 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I really need to work on picking up my cadence and getting my times down. Not too happy with the 8:50 pace.
What would you do differently?:

i need to learn how to drink on the run.

Nice race! Those are all solid times for your first tri! Those transistion times aren't bad either. I too, did the Devilman this weekend. I think it's pretty safe to say that is likely the worst water you'll ever have to swim in.
