I have a gym membership that does not have a pool. So I just need a pool to practice. Any suggestions on where I can go in the Atlanta area that does not require a monthly membership or that I take lessons to use the pool?  Thank you.

Where are you located?  City and county pools all have open lap swim hours (Atlanta, Gwinnett, Cobb, etc.) and I believe that Dynamo and probably Swim Atlanta also have lap swim hours too.  Public pools in areas where you are a resident are probably your cheapest option, but you should consider dropping in on a masters swimming practice.  Most allow you to try one out for free.

Cobb County pools were $320 per year for a family membership the last time we joined as non-residents.  They are even cheaper for residents.  Most county pools are this way.

That said, we not longer belong the Cobb pool because our gym has a pool and is open 24/7.   More hours (or convenient hours) = better.

I believe at SwimAtlanta locations, rather than paying a monthly membership you can buy a pass good for X number of visits.  I have a 40 visit pass to SwimAtlanta Sugarloaf in Lawrenceville.  Normally, it's $80 but I got it through one of the daily deal sites (Groupon, livingsocial, etc) for either $20 or $40.  It's a really nice Olympic size pool!
