Pre-race routine:

Rode My Bike to the bus stop and caught the bus to downtown where I rode over to the bike corral that was provided over by the YMCA. I stopped in and wrapped my shins in to hope of preventing my shin splints from getting worse. Then I walked over to my starting line. Picked up a Mocha, and ate my zone bar.
Event warmup:

Mostly just stretching for off an on for the hour or so I was standing and waiting for my group to move toward the starting line. Also in line fot the biffy.
Run
  • 2h 01m 5s
  • 7.46 miles
  • 16m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

It was good. I didn't really slow down much for Doomsday hill. I was very very close to the time goal I had initially set for myself. In any case, I kept a very steady pace throughout, and I had the energy to jog the last two blocks or so to the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

I wouldn't hang back at the end of my section for quite as long. I was slowed down some by slower pople who were stretched across the road.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked back to the Bike, and also iced my shins, which were hurting a bit but not excessively. Then I walked to lunch, after lunch I walked to REI, and then back to my friend Heidi's house. worked out to about 4 extra miles.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

NOT ENOUGH TRAINING!!!

Event comments:

I really didn't do any of the post-race stuff. THe nly problem with this one is that it is *so* crowded.

I love Bloomsday. used to do it every year as a kid, up through highschool.
Great work not letting Doomsday get you down. It's an impressive hill. Do they still have lots of bands and entertainment on it? That was my favorite part.

take care,
~B
